Here are some of my favorite radio shows that you can listen to this weekend!
This is a recreation of the original War of the Worlds which was 1st performed by Orson Wells’s group, Mercury Theater On the Air back in 1938. This performance was performed live by the Windsor Community Playhouse October 2005. I created all the sound effects for the show and ran all the sound for each show.
This next story has had many tellings in Books, TV and a movie, but it started out as a radio show. This episode comes from the 2nd series, Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
The Mercury Theater on the Air performed another gothic horror tale – Dracula. I created my own version as a radio reader’s theater for WCP, but here is the original.
This is a great thriller starring Agnes Moorhead.
Dracula star Bela Lugosi had his own radio show.
Would you be buried alive for the right price?
Things get real heavy!
This last one was an expanded radio dramatization of the original Star Wars movie produced in 1981 for the NPR. The radio serials were made with the full cooperation of George Lucas, who, in exchange for a dollar each, sold the rights to KUSC-FM, the public radio affiliate at his alma mater, the University of Southern California (USC). Lucas also permitted the use of original sound effects and music from the films.
