Yesterday, January 18th 2012, while we were all letting the US government know that SOPA, Stop Online Piracy Act, and PIPA, Protect Intellectual Property Act , were bad ideas and should not be passed into law, I was given special access to an upcoming CD.  After being transported a couple thousand miles in a few nanoseconds and slightly ahead into the future, I was granted access to a secret site to listen to 9th Evolution’s new CD Retro Americana.  This upcoming CD is a sequel to their 2010 release, The Life Atomic.

After over a year of work non-stop, Nicolas Whitfield has out done himself on the CD, surpassing his work on “The Life Atomic.”  He has delved deeper into his soul and  perhaps even Hell, to bring you 17 tracks of pure goodness that all stand on their own, but when played together it tells the story of Retro Americana.  Being influenced by Chopin and Beethoven with the sonic noise of Ministry and Pop Will Eat Itself, you can be assured that your journey to Retro Americana will be filled with ups and downs, ins and outs and unexpected surprises.

I know that there will be others that will be able to write a more eloquent review of this great CD.  The best I can tell you is that the CD has magic and excitement in it that makes you want to listen to it in it’s entirety, and not simple skip a head to the next passage or even the next track.  The release date is tentatively scheduled for April of this year, but that may be delayed due to contract negotiations with a number of labels, but I do know we will all be able to get our hands on the CD this year!  I highly recommend grabbing the CD when it is released.

9th Evolution can be found on various media sites including facebook.  As a gift from Nicolas, he has released the title song from the new CD in it’s entirety on SoundCloud.
